The output is machine output, and you must check it

This is the most important term on the page, so it comes first.

The upload pages submit your image to an external machine transcription service and place whatever text it returns into an editable box. That text is machine output. This site does not present it as a finished, verified or authoritative reading of your document, and you must not use it as one until you have compared it against the original yourself.

The client reads only the returned text field and displays no per-word confidence, highlighting or other response fields. Nothing in the box distinguishes a word that matches your page from a word that does not. That is why the text is delivered in an editable box, and why this site publishes no accuracy figure.

• Verify before you rely on it. Read the returned text against the original image, line by line, before using it for anything that matters.
• Check every name, date, figure and address character by character against the page.
• Mark what you could not confirm. Where you cannot verify a word against the image, write a bracketed mark in its place rather than leaving the machine's word standing.
• Do not pass unchecked machine output on as a reading of the document. If you share it, say what it is.

No professional, legal or genealogical certification

Nothing produced by this site is a certified, authenticated, notarised or professionally reviewed transcript. There is no human transcriber, no review queue, no archivist and no palaeographer anywhere in the request path: your browser posts the image, a Pages Function forwards it to the recognition service, and the returned text is written to the page unexamined.

In particular, this site does not provide and its output does not constitute:

• Legal advice or evidence preparation. Do not treat machine output from a will, contract, deed, court paper or item of correspondence as a legally sufficient reading of it.
• Medical interpretation. Do not use machine output from a prescription, chart or clinical note to make a treatment or dosage decision.
• Genealogical or archival authentication. Do not cite machine output from a parish register, census sheet, manifest or family letter as a verified record.
• Financial or official certification. This site attaches no assurance of correctness to output from figures, ledgers or official forms.

Where a document has legal, medical, financial or archival weight, have the original read by a person qualified to read it. This site does not offer that and does not substitute for it.

Permitted use, and what you are responsible for

Site policy permits using the tools and reading the guides for personal, educational, research or commercial work. The site has no account or payment control. This policy does not establish ownership, licensing or attribution facts for material submitted to or produced with third-party services.

Site policy for material you upload

You are responsible for the material you put into the transcription tools. Merely visiting, continuing to use or uploading to the site is not described here as creating legal acceptance. The site's upload policy is:

• Submit only material you are permitted to process. Determine the ownership, permission and legal basis applicable to your material before uploading; this site does not establish those facts.
• Do not submit material without permission. A handwritten page may contain another person's names, addresses, health details, finances or private correspondence. Consider the permissions and rules that apply to your document before sending it for processing.
• The image leaves your device. The image is sent to an external recognition service, as described below. Do not upload anything you are unwilling to send to an external processor.

Crop or mask anything you do not need read before you upload it: what is not in the image is not in the request. The privacy page sets out the request path in detail.

What you are responsible for when you use the canvas tool

The text-to-handwriting page draws typed text on a canvas in your browser using the font names written into that page, resolved against whatever your device has. The output is type set from a font file. It is not a reproduction of any individual's handwriting, and what you do with the resulting image is your responsibility — see the prohibited uses below.

Uses that are not permitted

The list is short and it is meant literally. Do not use this site to:

• Process material you have no right to process. Stolen, intercepted or unlawfully obtained documents, or documents whose handling breaches a duty of confidence you owe.
• Handle unlawful content. Anything whose possession or distribution is illegal where you are, and anything that exists to harass, threaten, defame or expose a person.
• Forge signatures or documents. Using the text-to-handwriting tool — or any output of this site — to fabricate a signature, produce a document meant to pass as someone's handwriting, backdate or alter a record, or create a note, letter, certificate, prescription or authorisation intended to deceive. A script-style rendering is not a signature and must not be presented as one.
• Impersonate. Passing off generated handwriting, or a transcript, as the authentic writing, statement or reading of another person.
• Bypass the stated checks. Circumventing the 6 MB client-side image check, the client-accepted file types, the in-memory rejection threshold of 10 requests per IP per minute, the KV rejection thresholds of 100 per IP and 3000 site-wide per UTC day, or any other technical restriction, including by splitting requests to evade them. The request thresholds are best-effort controls, not hard platform quotas.
• Put automated load on the service. Scripted or bulk submission, scraping the tools as an API, running the endpoints as a backend for another product, or any pattern of traffic that degrades the service for other people. The tools are for interactive use by a person.
• Attack or probe the site. Attempting to break, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or the systems behind it.

Access may be rate-limited or blocked where use appears to fall into these categories. Because there are no accounts, this is a technical measure rather than an administrative one.

External processing and infrastructure

This site performs no handwriting recognition itself. Pressing the read button on the cursive translator or on handwriting to text posts your image to a Cloudflare Pages Function on this site, which sends one request containing that image to Google Cloud Vision and returns the text field of the response to your browser. Using those pages therefore also involves Google's processing of your image. This page does not describe, summarise or vouch for the terms on which Google processes it; read Google's own current terms and policies if you need to know them.

The site is served through external web hosting and content-delivery infrastructure, and every page includes the Google Analytics tag under the site's configured measurement ID. This page makes no statement about what those providers do with a request; that is governed by their own current policies.

Two consequences follow, stated plainly rather than buried:

• Availability is not wholly in this site's hands. The endpoint has error branches for recognition-service rejection, an unset key and configured request thresholds; these branches do not promise stable distributed enforcement.
• The text-to-handwriting drawing path is different. Its drawing script sends neither typed text nor canvas data in a request and attempts to produce a PNG from local canvas APIs. The page still includes the analytics request disclosed in the privacy statement.

Availability, limits and changes to the service

The service is offered as it is, when it is available. There is no undertaking that it will be online at any particular moment, that any specific page or feature will continue to exist, or that behaviour will stay the same between visits.

• Configured checks may change. The client-accepted file types, the 6 MB client-side check, the in-memory request threshold and the daily KV thresholds may be adjusted without notice.
• Features may be added, changed or withdrawn, including a tool being retired.
• Interruptions are not excluded. Nothing here undertakes that any page or endpoint will respond at any given moment.
• No saved-work retrieval. The site code has no image or transcript database and provides no history or saved-work retrieval feature. Copy or attempt to download anything you want to retain.

No service level, uptime figure or response time is stated anywhere on this site, and none should be inferred from the site having responded before.

Intellectual property

Your material

The site code does not intentionally persist your image, typed text or returned transcript and provides no feature for republishing them. This page does not determine ownership, licensing or reuse rights in submitted material or output; establish those rights for your own material and intended use.

The site itself

Site policy asks visitors not to republish the written pages of cursive-translator.com wholesale or copy the page copy and design to stand up another page. It permits ordinary reading, printing, short quotation with a link, and linking to a page. This policy does not claim who owns the material, what rights subsist or what legal effect the policy has in a particular place.

Third-party names such as Google Cloud Vision are used here to identify services in the request path. The text-to-handwriting page ships no font files; it supplies font-family names to the browser. This page makes no claim about ownership or licensing beyond the files in this repository.

Where responsibility sits

These tools have no account or payment control and make no statement about results. Decisions based on output require your own review of the original.

This site accepts no responsibility for what follows from unchecked machine output — a misread name in a family tree, a wrong figure copied from a ledger, a misunderstood clause, a dosage read incorrectly from a prescription. The verification step at the top of this page is where that risk is to be caught, and it is you who performs it.

This page is not an attempt to sign away rights that cannot be signed away:

• Nothing here limits any right you have that the applicable law does not permit to be limited.
• Nothing here disclaims fraud, or injury caused by negligence, where the applicable law does not allow such a disclaimer.
• Applicable law controls. This page does not determine which statements are enforceable in a particular place or dispute.

No governing jurisdiction, dispute procedure or forum is stated on this page. This page does not state which law applies to you; whatever the law where you are says applies, applies.

Changes to these terms, and the published address

This page may be revised and carries the effective date shown above. The site publishes no version history or individual notification mechanism. Read the current page again when its policy matters to what you plan to submit or use; this sentence makes no claim about how legal acceptance is formed.
